What Makes Us Different

Affordability

We believe in making affordable hand-crafted guitars that have excellent tone, volume, and playability. We want our guitars to not only be great sounding guitars, we want our guitars to be your everyday guitar.

Natural Finish

We believe in using finishes that are environmentally friendly. We use an all-natural polymerized linseed oil and natural pine resin finish that contains no VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds).

We believe in not using grain fillers on the back and side woods. This allows the natural beauty of the wood to shine through. We like the look of wood.

All of this provides for a beautiful satin finish that lets the natural woodgrain show through.

Sustainable sourced woods

We  believe in using sustainably sourced woods that protect the wood supplies of world. We do not use woods that are on the CITES endangered list. We use the on-line Wood Database to check on the current status of a wood.

How We Build Your Guitar

Selecting Woods

Selecting the right wood is very important. Do you want dark or light wood? What sound do you want?

We spend a lot of time searching the different wood sites for just the right wood. If this is a commission guitar for you, we will work together to find just the right wood for you.

Voicing the Guitar

Voicing is making the selected woods, each of which has their unique sound characteristics, sound the best they are able.

We spend as much time as needed to get the back and top to just the right thickness and then apply and shape the braces to allow the wood to sing.

SoundPort

We put a signature CopperTree logo soundport on our guitars. This small opening lets the player hear some of the guitars sound so the player knows what is being projected out to the listeners.

The soundports are all hand-filed into the upper bout on the player side.

Coordinated Features

We like to coordinate the accent features on the guitar like the endwedge, sound hole rosette, and bindings for a nice well thoughtout look.

If this is a commission guitar, you will be part of the decision process for the look of these features.

Finish

We use an all-natural polymerized linseed oil and natural pine resin finish that contains no VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). The finish is hand applied and hand rubbed to a final satin luster.  We do not use grain fillers on the back and side woods. This allows the natural beauty of the wood to shine through.

All of this provides for a beautiful satin finish that lets the natural woodgrain show through.
