The Start
I began making guitars on a dare to myself - I was an engineer and surely I can make a guitar for myself! I found that time working in my shop fulfilled my creative self, and grew to love the precision required in making fine hand-crafted guitars. COVID offered an opportunity to make a permanent change in my life - and CopperTree Guitars was born.
A finely crafted, beautiful guitar can be affordable.
I am a single luthier shop and I build one instrument at a time to focus on building the highest quality guitar possible. I will build you a beautiful guitar with details that reflect both what you are looking for as a player and my craftsmanship as a builder. You can be involved as much as you want in the building process from start to finish.
Single Luthier - Small Shop
I have a small shop, and I work alone. Although I have basic shop machines – band saw, joiner, drill press – I prefer to do things by hand, but use power tools when appropriate for accuracy. There are no computer controlled machines in my shop.
All of my guitars are made with premium, hand selected wood from around the world. We minimize the use non-CITES treaty woods, as we believe in protecting our ecosystem.
We use Tried and True hand rubbed finishes (non-VOC, all natural).We believe that high gloss finishes that use grain filers interfere with the tone of the guitar.
Each instrument is hand-made with solid wood, finely tuned for the best possible sound the selected woods will provide.
The specification process is usually refined with calls, with frequent updates of photos and videos into a Google Album. I am available to answer questions through messages and calls at any point in the build process.
